Talk Show Host to Support
Sight For Students.
(RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif.) - Cristina Saralegui, host of Univision Network's top-rated "The Cristina Show," has joined forces with Vision Service Plan (VSP) to provide thousands of uninsured children with free eye exams and eyewear.
Cristina, a 30-year veteran journalist, is well-known for her dedication and commitment to health-related issues. She will expand her work to help individuals in need through her promotion of VSP's Sight for Students program.
Sight for Students partners with school districts and non-profit entities such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the YMCA of the USA, Head Start and the National Association of School Nurses to identify school children with eye problems. Eligible children are referred to VSP doctors for free eye exams and glasses. The program is committed to helping up to 50,000 children nationwide each year.
"The Cristina Show" premiered on the Univision network in 1989. It continues to be the top-ranked Spanish-language talk show on the Univision network, and reaches 100 million viewers worldwide. Additionally, Cristina hosts a daily radio show titled “Cristina Opina,” and is aired domestically on the National Radio Network, Radio Unica and throughout Latin America in association with the ABC Radio International Network.
VSP provides eye care benefit plans that range from comprehensive eye examinations and materials to complete medical and surgical eye care. With nearly 31 million members nationwide, more than one in 10 people in the United States rely on VSP for eye care health coverage. VSP employs more than 2,000 people and was selected as one of Fortune magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work for in America" in 1999.
