Casper the Friendly Ghost to Support
Sight For Students.
RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif.,
September 13, 2000 - Some kids don't have a ghost of a chance when it comes to
getting proper eye care. But not when Casper's around!
Sight for Students, a program
of Vision Service Plan's Altaireyewear and the Entertainment Industry Foundation, is
partnering with The Harvey Entertainment Company to stress the importance of proper
eye care for children and raise awareness of Sight for Students as a resource for
those who cannot afford care.
As part of this partnership,
a special Sight for Students eye care message featuring celebrities Jamie Lee
Curtis, Mark Harmon and Steve Guttenberg will appear on every video cassette of
the new, all CGI feature "Casper's Haunted Christmas" being released this Halloween
through Universal Home Video.
Additionally, a Casper tip
sheet that outlines signs of possible vision disorders will be made available for
distribution to more than 3,000 Sight for Students community partners and Vision
Service Plan's network of more than 18,000 doctors
Altaireyewear has developed a
special Casper frame case that will be offered beginning October 31 with every
purchase of a children's frame from VSP's Celebrity Eyewear line. Cases are black
with a Casper logo and will be available while supplies last. Profits from the
sale of Celebrity Eyewear benefit the Sight for Students program, which provides
free eye care and eyewear for up to 50,000 low-income, uninsured children across
the country each year.
